TERMS OF REFERENCE
BMSC Graduate Programs Committee
Objectives
To coordinate the Graduate programs offered by Departments within the Division, and to provide consultation with the various University stakeholders. The graduate programs refers to courses and thesis work carried out in the College of Graduate Studies and Research, and the associated objectives, content and the collective teaching, learning and evaluation of graduate students. Academic oversight of the graduate programs shall be the responsibility of the respective Departments in consultation with the Graduate Programs Committee.
Composition
Associate Dean, Biomedical Sciences
Associate Dean, Graduate Studies and Research
Departmental Graduate Chairs
· Anatomy and Cell Biology
· Biochemistry
· Microbiology and Immunology
· Pharmacology
· Physiology
Appointment/Term of Office
1. Membership by virtue of administrative position or appointment by Department Heads.
2. The chairperson of the Graduate Programs Committee shall be elected from amongst its membership.
3. Term of office for Departmental Graduate Chairs is determined by the respective Department Heads.
Duties
3. To coordinate graduate programming and research activities between the Departmental programs
Meetings
The Graduate Programs Committee shall meet once every month and otherwise as needed.
Quorum
Minutes
1. Minutes of all meetings shall be recorded and kept on file in the Dean’s Office.
2. The minutes shall be available to all committee members and faculty in the Division.
3. Any information deemed to be confidential in nature (i.e. student health or personal issues) shall be handled and stored in a secure manner.
4. Confidential information recorded during meetings shall be kept in the Dean’s Office files and location of this information referenced in the minutes.
Reports
1. The Chair shall report to the Division Faculty Council and to the Executive Committee as required.
