1. Approval of March 11th - Minutes
2. Assignment of BMSC Core Teaching Feedback:
- ACB, BIOC, MCIM, PHSI were generally in acceptance of the proposed teaching in the core curriculum
- Concerns were raised by Dr. Gopalakrishnan regarding impact of increased teaching loads on faculty in Pharmacology, and whether his department had the appropriate expertise for delivery of lecture content in Biomolecules. He suggested that Pharmacology may be better suited to lectures in metabolism.
- Biochemistry and Pharmacology will meet with Dr. Ovsenek to discuss options for Pharmacology's lectures in metabolism and the intro/lipid/carbohydrate components of Biomolecules.
3. Suggestions for the BMSC 240.3 Lab Techniques:
- The Committee raised concerns regarding the Collective Agreement and Faculty Association acceptance of an ASPA/classroom lecturer teaching role in Lab Techniques.
- It was suggested that a Lecturer deliver lecture components of the Lab Techniques.
- An ASPA position was recommended for Lab Coordinator. Dr. Ovsenek will develop a draft proposal to the BMSC Programs Committee outlining delivery of this course.
4. Calendar Revisions
- The calendar revisions designed by Maureen Webster were briefly reviewed. These will be subject to further review at the next meeting.
