1. PCIP - Dr. Ovsenek gave a brief update on the current status of the PCIP proposal. The Division of Biomedical Sciences and the Division of Science (A & S) worked with both the Colleges of A & S and Medicine to prepare a revised document for PCIP that was submitted October 8th. PCIP will consider the proposal at their October 20th meeting.
2. General Discussion
Once PCIP approval occurs, the consensus was that advertising fro the Term Faculty position to support BMSD 240.3 would need to occur as quickly as possible. A draft advertisement will be formatted by Nick and Maureen and will be distributed to the Committee via email for comments and input. The following criteria were discussed for the advertisement:
A) Candidate should hold a PhD in one of the biomedical disciplines
B) Post Doctoral Fellowship experience in the area of biomedical sciences
C) Strong commitment to teaching (some research - but mostly to teaching)
The position would start as early as January or February 2009 since there is an immediate need to develop both the lecture and laboratory components of BMSC 240.3
- Brief discussion of the 3rd and 4th year programs
- On-line exams - a presentation on a proposed facility in the Academic Health Sciences Building will be made by Tanieth Dale and Cyril Coupal (lead of the electronic exams) and John Costa at the next meeting.
3. Next meeting: November 13th, 2008 at 3:00 in the DCR.
4. Meeting adjourned.
