The Postgraduate Medical Education office (PGME) is committed to working with residents to ensure that their educational experience during the time they spend at the University of Saskatchewan will provide them with the best possible program to meet their needs in relation to their future career goals.
The role of the PGME office is one of coordination - with residents, with teaching hospitals, and with departments and program directors. We are here to serve residents' needs, answer any questions they may have, and assist residents in acquiring the best training they possibly can. Our contact with residents lasts long after they have completed their program – the PGME office also provides verification of training letters when residents apply for licensure or hospital privileges, as well as letters of reference and other forms of documentation.
The PGME office has a number of important administrative and educational roles. We liaise with many different groups including: Saskatchewan Health, Health Regions, College of Physicians and Surgeons, undergraduate medical education, training programs and departments, to ensure that each resident’s educational experience runs as smoothly as possible.
The PGME office can be more effective in meeting your needs as a resident if you consult us early should any issues or concerns arise as you undertake your residency program. If you don’t know – just ask! Our administrative staff will assist you if problems arise and our goal is to help support you in achieving a successful and fulfilling residency training program while you are at the University of Saskatchewan.
