Kalyani is an Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine and an associate member of the Center for Integrative Medicine. She provides consulting services on curricular issues to the School of Physiotherapy.

Kalyani has extensively taught face-to-face, blended, and distance education courses in Anatomy, and Physiology & Pathology to students of medicine and allied health professions in India and Canada. Currently, she designs and offers a variety of medical education workshops to faculty and assists in curriculum development at the college. Kalyani also continues to teach online medical terminology courses that she has designed and developed, offered through the Faculty of Continuing Education, Mount Royal College, Calgary. Kalyani earned her medical degree(MBBS) and a postgraduate degree specializing in Physiology (MD) from Christian Medical College, University of Madras, India. She also has a Masters degree in Medical Education (MSc) and a doctoral degree in Educational Technology from the University of Calgary.
