Welcome to the Family Medicine Residency Section! The Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Saskatchewan is delivered in four different sites: Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert and Swift Current. Each of these sites has their own unique attributes and you are encouraged to visit the different sites individually.
The main attraction to a residency in Saskatchewan is the smallness of the program. Residents don’t feel that they have to stand in line for clinical exposure or to do any procedures and there is more room for one-on-one teaching with faculty. Our Residents continually comment that they feel as if they are part of a big family in the Department of Academic Family Medicine.
The curriculum is set up according to the College of Family Physicians of Canada standards for accreditation, but there is a lot of flexibility built into the program with 15 weeks of elective time over the two years. More information on this can be found under the curriculum link.|
