There are two major programs for undergraduate medical students in the summer of 2013 which provide for up to 12 weeks of summer employment. These are the Dean's Summer Resaerch Projects and the Summer Externships. These are both described below.
Similarly there are two programs for undergraduate Biomedical Science students. These are the Biomedical Summer Studentships and the USTEP Program. Both of these are also described below.
These are research projects supervised by current UofS Faculty in the College of Medicine. These are 12 week projects and cover the spectrum from basic science to retrospective clinical work. The application deadline for the summer 2013 projects was in early January. Similar to last year there was more interest in the program than funding available..

This program consists of clinical placements for students who have completed their second year of undergraduate medical training. The length of the placements and location varies. More information on this program is available from the saskdocs (Physician Recruitment Agency of Saskatchewan) website or by following this link http://saskdocs.ca/work/medical-students-residents/prep. The deadline for applications is early February , 2013.
These projects are open to all Biomedical Science students in their second through fourth years. The focus of these is intended to be students who will be entering graduate school so the emphasis is on upper year students who have a GPA greater than 80% on at least 60 CU. The program typically offers 12-15 spots for undergraduate students. Information relating to these projects are cirulated to the faculty in early February with project applications due March 1.
