With the restructuring/renewing of the College of Medicine the position of Vice Dean Research has been created. One of three Vice Deans created as a result of the college trasnformation, this office will have additional responsibilities and resources with which to carry out its mandate of guiding and supporting the research carried out within the College of Medicine.
The Acting Vice Dean, Research has been charged with several tasks in order to transition the College from its existing structure. These tasks include (but are not limited to): Evaluate and lead the research mission of the College of Medicine; Develop a portfolio for the new Vice Dean Research to inform the recruitment of the permanent Vice Dean; Develop a budget and set up metrics which would allow a budget allocation system for the new TABBS model; Ensure a strategic plan is devleoped and implemented as part of the College of Medicine restructuring process.

The manager, working with the Vice Dean, Research promotes and supports the various aspects of the research agenda of the College including issues related to funding, human resources, infrastructure, support services, student research programs and other issues related to research.
The position reports to the Vice Dean, Research, College of Medicine and provides guidance and advice on pertinent financial, procedural and operational research issues. This position oversees the finances of the research division and manages the summer student research programs, including securing funding for the programs.

The Graduate Program Coordinator, working with the Vice Dean, Resaerch, and the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, supports the various aspects of the graduate studies and research agenda of the College including issues related to Graduate Students & Post Doctoral Fellows, the College of Medicine scholarships, The Clinicians Investigator Program, MD/PhD program, Life & Health Sciences Research Conference and other issues related to research and graduate studies.

Maintains contact with the Research Groups' leaders and coordinates activities of the Research Groups from all health disciplines. Serves as a liaison between the Research Groups, the College of Medicine, the Office of Research Services and funding agencies.
